Kia is continuing its drip-feed of information and photos related to the new Carnival / Sedona, dropping a single image of the minivan’s interior.
The release of this photo comes roughly three weeks after the South Korean automaker dropped images of the Carnival’s exterior. Much like the outside which has gone through a radical overhaul, the interior of the new vehicle is a significant improvement over the outgoing model.
Kicking off the interior changes is a new wrap-around dashboard that includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system that includes haptic feedback technology. The controls for the climate control are also touch-sensitive buttons neatly incorporated into the piano black trim. Elsewhere, the Carnival includes a rotary dial that acts as the gear selector.

Kia says that depending on the market, the Carnival will be available in three- or four-row seating configurations with space for 7, 9 or 11 occupants in total. When optioned in 7-seat configuration, the Carnival includes captain’s chairs for second-row passengers with adjustable backrests, armrests and leg rests. Second-row occupants also have access to USB chargers, storage nets for mobile devices, and a new storage drawer in the base of the rear console.
Kia refers to the new Carnival as a ‘Grand Utility Vehicle’. This is fitting as its wheelbase is 30 mm (1.1-inches) longer than the outgoing model while the body itself is also 10 mm wider (0.4-inches). Engine details remain under wraps. With that being said, CarScoops has heard a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 277 hp and 310 lb-ft (421 Nm) is a likely option. A turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder coupled to an electric motor and a 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 227 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) is also expected.
Sales of the 2021 Kia Carnival / Sedona will start in Korea later in the third quarter with global sales starting thereafter.
