2021 Subaru Crosstrek Gets New Looks, More Power And Higher Prices

Subaru unveiled the 2021 Crosstrek last month, and now the company has revealed pricing will start at $22,245.

Costing just $100 more than its predecessor, the facelifted Crosstrek features a redesigned front fascia with a revised grille. The model also adopts new 17-inch alloy wheels with a machine finish.

Moving into the cabin, there’s an automatic climate control system, power windows / locks and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The model also has a tilt / telescoping steering column, keyless entry and faux carbon fiber trim. The model also gains an upgraded EyeSight system – when equipped with a continuously variable transmission – that now features advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering.

Power is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 152 hp (113 kW / 154 PS) and 145 lb-ft (196 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a six-speed manual or an optional CVT. Regardless of which gearbox is selected, all Crosstreks feature a symmetrical all-wheel drive system with active torque vectoring.

Moving up the trim ladder is the Crosstrek Premium which starts at $23,295. It features an upgraded exterior with fog lights and body-color side mirrors. The model also has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system and dual USB inputs. Other highlights include an upgraded infotainment system, a retractable cargo cover and heated front seats.

The big news for the 2021 is the Crosstrek Sport which starts at $26,495 and features a 2.5-liter engine pumping out 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) and 176 lb-ft (238 Nm) of torque. While the engine is connected to exclusively to a continuously variable transmission, the Sport is the only Crosstrek to have a dual-function X-MODE system with snow/dirt and deep snow/mud settings.

While that isn’t much to get excited about, the model has a unique exterior with a gunmetal accents, unique fender flares and 17-inch “sport-type” wheels with a dark gray finish. The unique styling continues in the cabin as there’s water-repellant StarTex upholstery with yellow contrast stitching. There’s also gunmetal and yellow metallic accents.

The $27,995 Crosstrek Limited uses the Sport’s powertrain, but is more focused on luxury. As a result, it adopts a more upscale exterior with LED lighting units, 18-inch alloy wheels and body-color side mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Inside, there’s black or gray leather with contrast orange stitching. Drivers will also find a six-way power driver’s seat, an 8-inch infotainment system and a keyless access system. The model also offers an additional driver assistance systems including high beam assist, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot detection with lane change assist.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will arrive at dealerships later this summer.
