The BMW M2 Competition is probably the most appreciated car BMW M is selling right now, and for good reason.

More specifically, it adopts the S55B30 3.0-liter straight-six engine from the outgoing BMW M3 and M4 and puts it to work in a lighter, more compact and agile package. Thanks to 405 HP (410 PS) and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, the twin-turbocharged engine enables the BMW M2 to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds with the optional M DCT transmission and hit a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

Combine the mighty powertrain with the extensive chassis upgrades over the M240i Coupe and you get the modern BMW M car that follows the philosophy of the legendary E30 M3.

Most people would refrain from modifying what’s widely considered to be a great car, but Germany tuner JMS Fahrzeugteile does not target your casual buyer. It targets BMW M2 owners who want to leave an imprint on their compact M car.

This is why the aftermarket company has given the F87 M2 a racing style visual treatment. The first modification that you notice is the digital printing design wrapping, applied by the specialists from Schwabenfolia. Emulating the livery of a race car, the silk-matt wrapping combines red-orange tones and black for a more dynamic appearance.

The modified BMW M2 Competition also received a set of Project 3.0 rims from Barracuda Racing Wheels’ Ultralight Series. The 8.5×20-inch (front) and 10×20-inch (rear) wheels continue the bodywork’s color scheme with flash orange accents over black.

Each rim is said to weigh 12 kg (26.4 lbs) thanks to the manufacturing process using flow forming technology. The Y-spoke wheels are shod with Continental Sport Contact 6 tires sized 245/30 R20 at the front and 265/30 R20 at the rear.

Another modification that is easy to detect is the KW Variant 3 coil-over suspension kit which lowers the car by around 30 mm (1.2 in) at the front and 35 mm (1.4 in) at the rear. The suspension allows a separate adjustment of the compression and rebound damping.

JMS Fahrzeugteile did not touch the S55B30 engine, which remains stock. However, it fitted a sports exhaust system from Eisenmann that gives the 3.0-liter unit a low-frequency, thundering sound. You can hear it in the video below.
