Two of the greatest hypercars ever made, the Bugatti Chiron and Porsche 918 Spyder, met at the drag strip to prove which one is faster in a straight-line acceleration.
Filmed at a dedicated event held in Switzerland, the race did reveal a clear winner – and no, there won’t be any spoilers this time.
A rival to the likes of the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1, the 918 is an electrified supercar with hypercar-rivalling performance. Nought to 62 (0-100 km/h) takes around 2.5 seconds and flat out it will do 214 mph (344 km/h), aided by the 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine and two electric motors, a setup that gives it 875 HP and 944 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque.

The Chiron is around 660 lbs (300 kg) heavier than the 918, as it tips the scales at almost 4,400 lbs (2 tons), but it does have an incredible power advantage over it. As everyone and their pet knows, the French hypercar is powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine and does without any form of electrification. It can hit the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark in less than 2.5 seconds and its top speed is limited to 261 mph (420 km/h).
The drag race starts at 2:30 in the following video, but if you do not want to jump right to that mark, then you will see the 918 going head-to-head with a Pagani Huayra. Another 918 was also filmed lining up at the start line next to a Bugatti Veyron, though the latter’s driver apparently missed the start and then couldn’t be bothered to sprint to the finish line.
