Had the coronavirus pandemic not hit, Lincoln and Rivian would have been working to bring an all-electric SUV to the market. However, this does not mean Lincoln is abandoning its electrification plans as it ultimately wants to release a selection of all-electric vehicles, one of which could be a compact crossover.
Details about the vehicle are limited but it is claimed it could be a modified version of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Using the Mach-E as its base would make obvious financial sense for Lincoln, drastically reducing costs and the time needed to develop the vehicle and bring it to the market.
These renderings from designer KDesign AG showcase what this electric crossover could look like with some Lincoln styling elements applied across the exterior.

At the front, the crossover ditches the sharp and angular headlights of the Mustang Mach-E in favor of headlights more akin to those of the Lincoln Continental. Similarly, there is also a new Lincoln grille finished in chrome that would certainly make the vehicle stand out on the road. Spin around to the rear and the car utilizes a unique taillight array while also sporting a large Lincoln badge on the tailgate.
If Lincoln does indeed make an electric crossover based on the Ford Mustang Mach-E, we would expect it to undergo more significant, and more attractive, modifications than the vehicle presented. The current Lincoln Aviator, for example, is one of the best-looking SUVs on the market and Lincoln certainly has the potential to use the Mustang Mach-E as a basis for creating an electric crossover that fits in with the brand’s identity .
