The sixth generation Polo is already three years old, so it seems likely that Volkswagen is already preparing its mid-life cycle refresh.
As these things usually go, it should bring some changes at the front and rear ends, updated infotainment software, revised trim and perhaps some small changes in the engine family.
Now, we will only focus on the visual part, which might look at its bigger sibling, the all-new Golf Mk8, for inspiration. This was the idea elaborated by BrazilAutomotive and turned into a rendering that might or might not be on to something.
Review: 2020 Volkswagen Polo Style 85TSI Offers Tech On A Budget
Compared to the current Polo, it sports slender headlamps with new integrated LED DRL graphics. The grille is much smaller and features a slim chrome trim running across its width and the Volkswagen logo partially protrudes into the hood that otherwise remains unchanged. The bumper has been revised and sports a cleaner look and a more discreet apron, while the profile, side mirror caps, shape of the wheel arches and so on carry over with no changes whatsoever.
We will find out whether the facelifted Polo (and its South America sedan cousin, the Virtus) will go down this design route when VW starts testing prototypes in the open, and given the lifespan of today’s cars, we’d say that we should see them in less than a year.
