The Ducati Scrambler is a range of motorcycles that targets a young demographic thanks to attributes like small dimensions, retro styling and relatively low pricing.
Therefore, one would expect the newly-announced e-Scrambler to be the all-electric variant of the ICE-powered Scrambler. Well, that’s not the case, as the e-Scrambler is actually an electric bicycle launched by Ducati and Thok Ebikes.
Described as the ideal companion for the city or country roads, the Ducati e-Scrambler is a pedal-assisted trekking bike that has “everything you need for daily use”, according to its makers. The e-Scrambler is designed for use in the city and on open country roads alike, “without sacrificing the style and feeling of freedom typical of the Ducati Scrambler world”.

According to Ducati, the e-Scrambler offers “the same riding experience as a traditional bike thanks to its low center of gravity and the geometry of the frame.” We’re sure owners of actual Scrambler motorcycles would have some comments about that. The Italian company also says the supplied telescopic seat post increases comfort, allowing the rider to get on and off the saddle easily and ensuring safe support during stops.
The trekking e-bike is powered by a 504 Wh battery which supplies electricity to a 250-watt Shimano Steps E7000 motor for “great autonomy”, althou the exact range hasn’t been disclosed yet. The e-bike features high-end components such as an aluminum frame, Sram NX 11-speed transmission, Sram 4-piston brakes, Ducati grips and saddle, as well as Pirelli Cycl-e GT tires. It also comes with a complete set of accessories essential for daily use including luggage racks, mudguards, a stand and signal lights.
The e-Scrambler is priced at €3,699 ($4,280) in Europe. That’s half the price of the cheapest Ducati Scrambler motorcycle, the 39 HP Sixty2 – but then again, that’s comparing apples to oranges…
