The Bentley Continental name has been around since the early 1950s and the latest-generation model really is a sight to behold. In this clip, we get to see what exactly makes it the quintessential grand tourer.
The full-length documentary from Welt was filmed at the production facility in Crewe, UK, that is responsible for building each and every Continental GT. While the model range kicks off with a V8-powered variant, this documentary focuses on the range-topping W12 model.
This engine is quite a performer. Displacing 6.0 liters and featuring two turbochargers alongside its 12 cylinders, it is good for 626 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. Coupled to the engine is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power through all-four wheels, allowing the Continental GT to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.3 seconds and max out at 207 mph (333 km/h).

In the documentary, we discover that a team of 92 Bentley workers are responsible for assembling each and every engine used by the car manufacturer. Of these, 24 engineers are specialized in the Continental’s W12. A good portion of the video focuses on how each and every engine is assembled thanks to a combination of machines and expertly-trained mechanics.
Of particular interest is all the work that goes into perfecting the interior of the Continental GT. Approximately 10 per cent of the work in the trim shop is carried out automatically, including cutting the leather. There are also 75 seamstresses charged with trimming out each and every Bentley.
