The massive 7.3-liter ‘Godzilla’ petrol V8 engine introduced for the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty has just been launched as a crate motor by Ford Performance Parts.

This huge engine pumps out 430 hp and 475 lb-ft (644 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. It utilizes a cam-in-block design meaning it is more compact than a traditional overhead-cam engine and could prove to be a good option for anyone looking to perform an engine swap on their vehicle.

Anyone who places an order for the crate motor will also receive the intake and throttle body, left and right exhaust manifolds, production oil pan/cooler, ignition coils and wires, production flex plate, shipping and storage cradle, and factory lift brackets. Muscle Cars and Trucks adds that the engine also comes with a warranty, although its duration is unclear.

The Godzilla V8 is priced from $8,150. Customers will need to source their own transmission to work alongside the 7.3-liter mill, as well as all the required wiring.

While the engine doesn’t produce a huge amount of power and torque considering its size, it is understood that with some tuning, it can be upped to around 600 hp without the use of forced induction. For those looking for more power, Whipple launched a 3.0-liter supercharging system for the Godzilla engine earlier this year. Complementing the supercharger is a new Roval 132 mm billet throttle body and, all up, the supercharged mill is good for 700 hp and 700 lb-ft (949 Nm).
