There is little doubt that the two best-selling electric vehicles in the crossover segment going forward will most likely be the Tesla Model Y and Ford’s intriguing Mustang Mach-E, which was recently priced at $43,895.
Both models are competitively priced and both feature similar specs, which means that buyers will likely decide which one to get based mostly on personal preference (styling, badge, interior quality).
Now, while we did bring you a visual, financial and performance-related comparison between the two as soon as the Mach-E broke cover last year, what we never actually got to see until now was these two cars sitting side by side somewhere out in the open.

These images, posted on Twitter by one Simon Wong, show the Model Y and the Mach-E together for the very first time, while charging. So why do we care so much? Well, because these are two of the hottest new EVs out there, and people are going to want to size them up properly. It’s only natural.

Right off the bat, we can see that Tesla’s familiar styling makes the Model Y look less conventional and possibly more futuristic than the Mustang Mach-E, which is shaped like a normal crossover, more or less – its appearance is still very modern though. We should also mention that neither of these two are entry-level variants.
Then there’s the difference in height, evident from the rear 90-degree angle shot. The Model Y is taller than the Mach-E, albeit only by one inch.
As for width, the Model Y is a tiny bit wider at 75.6 inches (1,920 mm), versus the Mustang Mach-E’s 74-inch (1,880 mm) overall width.
The Ford definitely looks more dynamic though, don’t you think?
