Audio specialist Klipsch has partnered with the McLaren Formula 1 racing team to launch a set of wireless earphones, officially dubbed the Klipsch T5 II True Wireless Sport McLaren edition.

The earphones feature 5 mm dynamic moving-coil drivers and boast Bluetooth 5.0 with support for AAC and aptX codecs. Each earpiece sports a 50 mAh battery that promises eight hours of charge.

However, if you’re going to be away from a power outlet for longer than that, the carry case the earphones come in features a 360 mAh battery, adding another 24 hours of playback time. This case can be recharged via a USB-C cable or through a Qi wireless charging pad.

Klipsch and McLaren have also ensured the T5 II’s are durable by making them dustproof and waterproof at depths of up to one meter (3.3 feet) for 30 minutes. In addition, the case supports a water removal system to ensure the earphones remain dry when stored.

All T5 IIs shipped come with six pairs of comfort ear tips of varying sizes. Visually, there’s no mistaking these earphones for any others thanks to the Papaya Orange ear tips as well as the Papaya Orange striping and carbon fiber on the carry case. A smartphone application can be used to adjust the sound to the user’s taste.

Of course, these earphones aren’t particularly cheap, with a pre-order price of $249 in the United States with deliveries expected to start in August. However, given the financial struggles McLaren is going through at the moment, we’re sure the company will take any sale it can get.
