We’ve seen plenty of leaks and reports to know that Ford is cooking up a new compact pickup truck model, and we’re also pretty sure that it’s going to be called the Maverick.
Its exact size or design remains unknown however, although the general consensus is that it will slot beneath the Ranger. If true, it might be a little hard to base it on the recently unveiled Bronco Sport, let alone the full-size all-new Bronco.
Still, BrazilAutomotive gave it a go using the Bronco Sport as a basis, stretching out the wheelbase, designing a truck bed and even adding a faithful rendition of that recently-leaked Maverick tailgate.

Just to be clear, the actual Maverick should have nothing to do with the rumored Bronco truck that will be a Jeep Gladiator rival.
So what do you think? Does this design work as a compact-sized truck for the Americas? What it does have going for it is the youthful design. In the render it’s modern, but not overly imposing – which is what we’ve been hearing in those reports too, some of which suggest that the pickup will ride on the same platform that underpins the Focus.
Ford is expected to launch this new compact truck towards the end of 2021, with production to begin in Hermosillo, Mexico. Pricing for the Blue Oval’s entry-level truck is expected to kick off from just under $20,000.
