Hyundai has just announced an advanced new air conditioning system that improves interior air quality. The technology will initially be available on select models in South Korea before been rolled out to Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles worldwide.
The system consists of three air-conditioning technologies dubbed After-Blow, Multi-Air Mode, and Fine Dust Indicator. The first of these, After-Blow, dries the condensate on the evaporator and suppresses mold growth in the air conditioning.

More specifically, the system is triggered when the engine is turned off. Ordinarily, the condensate on the evaporator drains naturally for about 30 minutes. For 10 minutes, After-Blow will be activated to dry the evaporator and any condensate leftover in the air passage. After-Blow uses an intelligent battery sensor to monitor the battery and automatically stops functioning when the battery is low.
The second technology, Multi-Air Mode, involves the air being dispersed through newly added multi-air slots in the driver and passenger seats, in addition to the normal air vents. This system aims to provide a more pleasant environment with a gentle breeze.
Last, but not least, is the Fine Dust Indicator, which measures and displays the concentration and pollution level of ultrafine particles (PM 2.5) inside the vehicle. If the level of ultrafine particles exceeds a certain threshold, the air-cleaning mode will run to purify the air in the vehicle. It does so by automatically switching the air speed between 3 and 8 while also enabling air-recirculation mode and activating the air conditioning to reduce humidity. If this doesn’t do the trick, owners will be prompted to replace the air conditioner filters and clean contaminated seats or mats.
