Hennessey has gotten its hands on two of the fastest SUVs on Planet Earth: the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the Lamborghini Urus.

Both of them are going to be modified, but before that, Hennessey unleashed them in a couple of drag races.

In the ‘red, white and blue’ corner we have the American Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It’s an absolute beast with Dodge’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 under the hood pumping out 707 HP (717 PS / 527 kW) and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque. The official standing quarter mile time is 11.6 seconds with an exit speed of 116 mph (187 km/h), the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint is completed in 3.5 seconds, and flat out it will do 180 mph (290 km/h).

Coming from the other side of the ocean and more specifically Italy, albeit with a German twist, the Urus is about $134,000 more expensive than the American super SUV. Unlike the supercharged mill of its rival, it’s powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbochargers and 641 HP (650 PS / 478 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. We don’t know the official standing quarter mile time and exit speed of the Urus, but we do know that it’s equally fast to the Trackhawk from nought to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) and that it will max out of breath at 190 mph (305 km/h).

By the looks of it, this is going to be a tight battle, whose result will likely depend on the skills of the two drivers. Nevertheless, if you had to bet on one, which one would you put your money on?
