We’re just a few hours away from Audi’s official unveiling of the Q4 e-tron Sportback concept, yet as it so often happens, the vehicle has made its way online through other means, which is where we come in.

There are two separate leaks. One is a presentation video published by 4Drive Time, and the other is an IG post courtesy of Avarvarii. The latter features two press images.

This sloped-roof version of the Q4 e-tron concept features the same taillight design as its more conventional-looking sibling. However, the latter doesn’t have this integrated almost ducktail-like rear spoiler, which spans the entire width of the glass panel.

The front fascia appears identical to that of the regular Q4 e-tron concept, unveiled last year at the Geneva Motor Show. As for their profiles, this Sportback variant has a different window line, but other than that, we’re dealing with the same design.

As far as we can tell, there are no differences in terms of dashboard design either. Both concepts are outfitted with Audi’s latest Virtual Cockpit technology, to go with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system.

The production version of the Q4 e-tron Sportback concept will ride on the VW Group’s latest MEB architecture, featuring similar mechanical specs to both the VW ID.3 as well as the Cupra el-Born. When it was first unveiled, the Q4 e-tron Concept boasted dual electric motors and an 82 kWh battery for a total of 225 kW (302 HP / 305 PS), a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 6.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

Assuming specs remain identical between the two, the Q4 e-tron Sportback concept should also boast a range of 279 miles (450 km) per the WLTP cycle – of course, we’ll know soon enough if this is the case or not.

Based on recent spy images, we can tell you that the production version of the regular Q4 e-tron is shaped very much like the concept that came before it. Sure, the wheels were smaller and door handles were added, but other than that, it features similarly-flared arches and other design elements. What this means is that the production-ready Q4 e-tron Sportback variant should ultimately look like a slightly toned-down version of this concept.

So when can we expect to see this EV in dealerships? It should happen before the end of next year. But given all these pandemic-related delays, it’s hard to say for certain.
