An all-new iteration of Forza Motorsport is under development for the new Xbox Series X gaming console.

The announcement was made through the release of a trailer during a virtual game conference previewing a host of new titles coming to the Xbox Series X.

In the trailer, we see a bunch of Apollo Intensa Emozione track cars lapping the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca circuit. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much else, Forza developer Turn 10 has confirmed the game will run at 4K resolution at 60 fps. It will also feature ray tracing and has the potential to be one of the finest simulators available.

As for the name, it is simply being referred to as Forza Motorsport. The first game in the series was also called Forza Motorsport. It was launched in 2005 and every two years since, new iterations have been launched, culminating in the most recent Forza Motorsport 7 in 2017.

No launch date for the game has been released, but there’s a chance we won’t see it until late 2021.

This is far from the only exciting new racing game in development. One month ago, the first trailer for Gran Turismo 7 was released. Set to be available for the PlayStation 5, the latest Gran Turismo promises extraordinary graphics and a comprehensive campaign/career mode.

For gamers looking for a slightly more lifestyle-focused offering, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is shaping up to rival the Forza Horizon series.
