The PSA Group will gradually move on from its two multi-energy platforms to two 100% electrified ones in its quest for e-mobility development, with a new eVMP platform serving as the basis for a wide range of C- and D-segment models.
According to the French brand, the eVMP platform will boast an autonomy of up to 406 miles (650 km) on the WLTP cycle, plus a 50 kWh per meter storage capacity within the wheelbase.
What eVMP stands for is Electric Vehicle Modular Platform, and come 2023, it will serve as the basis of PSA’s future sedans and crossovers for different regions of the world.

“With this eVMP platform, Groupe PSA once again demonstrates its ability to innovate by developing for its customer’s state-of-the-art and affordable technologies thanks to the frugality that has enabled a significant reduction in R&D and industrial investments. This global platform will make it possible to offer a range of vehicles that are perfectly respectful of the environment, meeting the changing expectations of our customers and guaranteeing driving pleasure and safety on board, values that are the basis of the Group’s reputation today,” said PSA Group R&D boss Nicolas Morel.
The electrified platform boasts 60 to 100 kWh of embedded energy, with an optimized architecture that exploits the entire sub-floor for the battery. In certain markets, this platform will also underpin hybrid derivatives.
As for an all-electric range, the previously-mentioned 406 mile figure is a best case scenario. Less aerodynamic models could average as little as 250 miles (400 km) per WTLP, but it will also depend on the body of course.
