Rolls-Royce Wraith Kryptos Is The Da Vinci Code Of Cars

One thing Rolls-Royce designers don’t lack is creativity. The carmaker’s latest limited edition model, the Wraith Kryptos Collection, is proof that pretty much any theme is possible when money is no object.

What makes this bespoke model different is the fact that it incorporates a series of encrypted messages and only two people know the answer to what the cipher will reveal. The entire collection will consist of just 50 cars.

“The name Kryptos is derived from Ancient Greek, referring to something unseen, hidden and coded, mythical even. Ciphers can be traced through millennia, capturing the imagination of some of the world’s most brilliant minds,” said designer Katrin Lehmann.

“As a designer, I’ve always been fascinated by the notion that you can communicate messages that are understood by only an elite few, using symbols, pictograms, and ciphers. Finding the key becomes integral to appreciating the full meaning of an item that can otherwise be viewed simply as a work of art.”

The encrypted cipher inside the Wraith Kryptos Collection is meant to take clients on a journey of discovery and intrigue. The only two individuals that know what the cipher means is Lehmann and Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos, who said that he looks forward to seeing “whether any of our clients will crack the code!”

In order to get started on the message, buyers will first have to look at the Spirit of Ecstasy emblem, which features an engraving with green enamel detailing at its base.

Mysterious details aside, the Wraith Kryptos Collection boasts a Delphic Grey exterior hue, consisting of a solid Anthracite base color whose blue and green mica flakes only appear under direct sunlight. Then there’s the hand-painted double coachline, with the upper painted Kryptos Green and the lower acting as a Dark Grey shadow. Completing the look are the part polished wheels with Orbit Grey centers and a colored pinstripe.

As for the interior, the cipher is deeply embedded into the fabric of the car, while the biggest clue is said to be embroidered into the headrests.
