A host of images showing the long-awaited 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series have surfaced on social media, revealing the car’s bold exterior design.
Mercedes-AMG has been feverishly testing the flagship variant of the AMG GT at the Nurburgring for months now. It is the most track-focused version of the car and the spiritual successor to the brutal Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. The design is wild, to say the least.
Located at the front is an enlarged Panamericana grille alongside an extended carbon fiber splitter and some subtle canards. Interestingly, the front end lacks the additional air intakes of lesser AMG GT models as the swollen front grille alone is now capable of gobbling down all the air necessary. Elsewhere, we can see the AMG GT R Black Series has a bespoke hoods with air vents and louvers on the front wheel arches.

Spin around to the sides and you will see extended side skirts and a set of matte black wheels wrapped in Michelin rubber. The bold aerodynamic changes continue at the rear with a new wing that includes a second ‘wing’ in between the two uprights. AMG has also designed a bespoke bumper and diffuser package.
Yesterday, reports surfaced that the AMG GT R Black Series’ 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine has been upgraded to no less than 710 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. That is significantly more than the 577 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of the GT R Pro and has allegedly been enough to send the car around the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 58 seconds, or about 6.6 seconds quicker than the GT R Pro and 13 seconds behind the Aventador SVJ which holds the production car lap record at 6:44.97 minutes.
