An all-new generation Jeep Grand Wagoneer is on the cards and could arrive for the 2022 model year. In the meantime, if you’d like a trip back in time, this 1988 example currently up for auction could be a good bet.
According to the listing, this Grand Wagoneer was purchased by the seller in 2008 and has 83,000 miles (133,575 km) on the clock. A host of work has been done to return the car back to its former glory.
Most notably, the vehicle’s 360 cubic-inch V8 was remanufactured and installed in April 2019. Among the included work was the fitment of a replacement intake manifold, radiator, thermostat, starter motor, alternator, and fuel pump. The two-barrel carburetor has also been upgraded to a four-barrel unit. In addition, the three-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt earlier this year.

Elsewhere, the body was refinished in metallic gray in April 2019 in a process that included repairing dents and rust in the lower quarter panels and replacing the bumper strips, window sweeps, and windshield gasket. The original woodgrain trim on the sides and rear has been maintained and there is also a chrome-finished roof rack.
The cabin of the SUV, which is listed on Bring A Trailer, is trimmed in burgundy leather with corduroy seat inserts, woodgrain accents, and matching carpets. The cargo-area carpeting has been recently replaced and there are also replacement floor mats. Key features include power-operated windows and locks, power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, and a Sony CD head unit.
