Toyota introduced the Corolla Cross in Thailand yesterday, and announced it would be “launched in a growing number of other markets.”
That naturally raised questions about whether or not the Corolla Cross would come to the United States, so we asked the company for clarification.
Toyota Motor North America’s Zach Reed told us, “The Corolla Cross … is an exciting new Toyota product that will be available in select markets around the world. At this time, no decisions or announcements have been made with regard to this vehicle coming to the US.”
While that statement leaves the door open for it arriving sometime in the future, there are “no plans as of now.”

As a refresher, the Corolla Cross rides on the TNGA platform and is a compact crossover that measures 175.6 inches (4,460 mm) long, 71.8 inches (1,825 mm) wide and 63.8 inches (1,620 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 103.9 inches (2,640 mm). This means the Corolla Cross is 3 inches (76 mm) longer, 1.1 inches (28 mm) wider and 2.2 inches (56 mm) taller than the CH-R.
However, both the CH-R and Corolla Cross have a 103.9 inch (2,640 mm) wheelbase and are front-wheel drive. Given their similar dimensions and lack of all-wheel drive, it might not make sense to offer the Corolla Cross in America.
Regardless, the Thai-spec Corolla Cross is available with two different engines including a 1.8-liter petrol that develops 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS) and 131 lb-ft (177 Nm) of torque. There’s also a hybrid variant which uses a 1.8-liter engine and an electric motor to develop a combined output of 120 hp (90 kW / 122 PS).
