The Ford Bronco nameplate has been trending big time on social media as of late, and popularity is much better than notoriety – just ask O.J’s Bronco.
If you’re a fan, there are loads of older models that could satisfy both your off-roading needs, as well as your need to own a rugged, good-looking classic SUV. This modded first-gen Bronco fits that mold pretty well.
It has been heavily modified inside and out, while the powertrain and gearbox were both sourced from a second-generation Ford Explorer.

Work on the off-roader started at Hutch Broncos, who removed the body from the frame and repainted it in Titanium Silver. They then added the black wheel arches, aftermarket bumpers and headlights, a body-color hardtop, 18-inch wheels with 33-inch tires, a rear spare and 5.0 badging.
The interior now comes with bucket seats, a roll bar, a modern head unit, black carpeting and a custom three-spoke steering wheel.
Finally, we arrive at the drivetrain. It’s a fuel-injected 302ci Windsor V8 mated to a four-speed automatic – again, from a second-gen Explorer. This means that you basically have ’90s tech powering something that was initially designed sometime in the early 60s. While the output isn’t specified in the Bring a Trailer ad, we can tell you that this Bronco also makes use of an EFI Guy tune.
The seller also replaced the driveshafts, and had 4.11:1 gears installed in the front and rear diffs. The finishing touch was a 23-gallon (87 liter) fuel tank.
