2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster Exudes A Muscular Elegance

Production of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG ended six years ago, yet despite the relatively new status, it’s already a modern classic.

Built in two body styles, coupe and roadster, the successor of the SLR McLaren, which was replaced by the smaller and less powerful AMG GT, had a front mid-engine and rear-wheel drive layout.

During its assembly, the lineup was constantly revised with different special editions, which included models such as the hot Black Series and zero-emission Electric Drive, and was finally sent off by the aptly named GT Final Edition.

The open-top example pictured in the gallery was built in 2011, in right-hand drive, and was destined for the UK. Finished in Mystic White on top of the red leather interior, it featured AMG alloy wheels, red brake calipers and carbon fiber side mirror caps, as well as the Airscarf system that blows hot air onto the necks of the driver and passenger on cold days.

Power comes from a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, which pumps out 563 HP (571 PS / 420 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque that are directed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time took 3.8 seconds and top speed was 197 mph (317 km/h), which is still impressive even by today’s standards.

As you probably figured it out, it’s for sale, and will go under the gavel at the SilverstoneAuctions online event that will start on August 1. No official selling estimates have been provided as it’s offered without reserve. Nevertheless, it’s been disclosed that it has 10,750 miles (17,300 km) on the clock as well as a full service history.
