A desirable 1990 BMW 320is is currently up for sale on eBay, and while it is E30 M3s that have recently skyrocketed in value in recent years, the 320is is another prized variant of the E30.

This particular two-door 320is was imported to Canada from the U.S. and the exterior is painted in Diamond Schwarz. It also comes equipped with the prized M Tech II sport body kit. Upon landing in the country, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration with lots of wear-and-tear parts being replaced, while many consumable mechanical parts have also been refreshed.

A little history on the 320is

The 320is was introduced back in the late 1980s after Italy and Portugal imposed a luxury tax on cars with engines of over 2 liters in displacement. In response, BMW created the 320is, a vehicle with a 2.0-liter version of the M3’s S14 four-cylinder engine producing 192 hp and mated to a Getrag dog-leg manual transmission. Despite not being badged as one, for all intents and purposes, it is a true M model.

On the eBay listing, the seller notes that the Bimmer is frequently driven and currently has 175,000 km (~108,739 miles) on the clock. The car is in largely stock condition with the exception of H&R springs and rollbars as well as Bilstein B6 shocks, while the original exhaust silencer has also been upgraded to a Supersprint replacement. While the 320is has quite a lot of miles under its belt, both the exterior and the interior seem to be in pretty good condition.

There were only ever 2,540 examples of the two-door 320is produced (along with another 1,205 four-door variants) from 1987 through 1990, so while it may not be as sought after as the E30 M3, it is significantly rarer, as BMW built 18,843 units of the latter (not including another 786 examples of the M3 Convertible).
