If you’re a fan of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI or hot hatchbacks in general, the following review of the latest generation of the car that started a whole new class will probably interest you.
The clip starts with the new design, such as the lower grille with optional X-shaped fog lamps. These are the biggest changes compared to the regular Golf models, but not the only ones, as it also has a bigger roof spoiler, different rear bumper, two round exhaust pipes, black side skirts and GTI badges.
A signature feature of all Golf GTIs, the tartan sports seats, are present, spicing up the cockpit, alongside the new steering wheel and golf ball shifter knob if you opt for the six-speed manual transmission over the optional seven-speed dual-clutch unit.

The rest of the cabin is pretty much identical to lesser Golfs and boasts a generous range of equipment, including the 10-inch infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital gauges. The space for rear passengers is quite fine, on the outer seats, and the boot capacity is on par with other compact hatchbacks.
The 2020 Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter four-pot rated at 242 HP (245 PS / 180 kW) and 273 pound-feet (370 Nm) of torque. That’s a respectable gain over its 228 HP (231 PS / 170 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) predecessor, which is still on sale in certain markets, including the USA, where it has an MSRP of $28,595.
The new GTI, which will arrive at dealers nationwide in the third quarter of 2021, takes a little over 6 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill and has a top speed electronically governed at 155 mph (250 km/h).
