The 2021 MINI Cooper S Convertible was spied on the Nürburgring a few days ago, parading its visual updates that were hidden by the front and rear camouflage.
Expected to launch in a few months and to go on sale as a 2021MY, the facelifted open-top model sports a new grille with a different pattern, restyled bumper with side air intakes and new rear bumper with incorporated diffuser and central-mounted double exhaust pipes.
The MINI logos at both ends, as well as the ‘Cooper S’ badge on the boot lid, were covered up. Other than that, the car seems to be unchanged – on the outside at least – although it will probably get tweaked lighting units too.

Exclusive upholstery options, likely with contrast stitching, will be found inside, setting the Cooper S Convertible apart from other models. Moreover, a digital instrument cluster will also be part of the offering in the facelifted iteration, the second one of the current generation, meant to make the lineup more appealing until the all-new one arrives, perhaps in 2024.
Do not look for any power upgrades in the 2021 Cooper S Convertible, as it is believed to soldier on with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, making 189 HP (192 PS / 141 kW) and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. The power unit will be connected to a standard six-speed manual or an optional dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration of under 7 seconds.
