Patent images of the Aurus Komendant have been posted by Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), giving us a clear look at the full-size luxury SUV’s exterior design.
Additionally, Rospatent has published patent images of an as-yet-unnamed escort motorcycle which also features Aurus branding. Starting off with the Aurus Komendant, it looks just as you would expect, especially if you’ve already seen spy shots of the luxury SUV.
The massive SUV sports classic proportions with a long hood, a generous glazed area, and large wheel arches. The front is dominated by the massive Aurus grille flanked by rectangular headlights arranged horizontally and two big air intakes in the bumper. Out back, we can spot a pair of squared taillights, big roof spoiler, and two square tailpipes integrated into the sculpted bumper.

Overall, the Komendant looks rather elegant for a vehicle of this size, if a bit conservative. The stamping that follows the belt line helps lighten the visual bulkiness, while the chrome trim gives the SUV an upscale appearance.
We don’t get to see patent images of the interior but that’s fine since we already know the Komendant looks very similar to the Senat luxury sedan inside. The Unified Modular Platform is shared with the flagship model too which means the SUV gets a hybridized 4.4-liter V8 gasoline engine rated at 590 HP (598 PS) and 649 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will be standard when the Komendant debuts sometime in 2022.
As for the Aurus motorcycle, there aren’t that many details available for now. The patent images reveal that it has a long wheelbase, a massive frame, LED lights, and adjustable windshield. We can also spot two volumetric saddlebags in the rear.
According to Drom, the development of the Aurus motorcycle for the Kortezh project is jointly carried out by the FSUE NAMI Russian State Scientific Research Center and the Kalashnikov group. The first prototype of the bike was shown in November 2017 under the IZH brand with a 150 HP gasoline boxer engine enabling a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
Mind you, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, said earlier this year that the escort motorcycle will get a fully electric powertrain when it goes on sale in 2022-2023.
H/T to Mikhail!
