There are few British cars quite as weird and wacky as the million-dollar Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf.

It was way back in 2009 that Aston Martin decided it would revive Lagonda and the Taraf was the first model from the resurrected brand. While we have yet to see any other new Lagonda models, let alone any series-production ones, the Taraf shows what Aston Martin can do when it has its finances in order.

Sitting beneath the eye-catching bodywork of the Lagonda Taraf is a 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 producing 533 hp at 6,000 rpm and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

Aston Martin only ever sold 120 examples of the car before ending production. Despite its rarity, Doug DeMuro recently had the opportunity to check one out up close and take it out for a drive.

Given the car’s $1 million price tag, you’d expect it to be exceptionally luxurious – and it is just that, boasting two beautiful and comfortable rear seats wrapped in gorgeous leather. Things are so luxurious inside that the Taraf even has a leather headliner and a small refrigerator in between the seats. While it all looks very nice, lots of parts have been shared with lesser Aston Martin models, such as the Rapide, which is not something you may expect for a vehicle that is so absurdly expensive.
