The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is a pretty special thing but is it worth the €545,200 ($642,000) including VAT being asked by this particular dealership? We’re not so sure.
Based around the regular 488 Pista, the Pista Spider features a modified 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine pumping out 710 hp at 8,000 rpm and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque at 3,000 rpm.

The example in question from Hollman International is painted in Rosso Corsa and apparently has just 80 km (~50 miles) on the clock. It comes loaded with options including Rosso colored interior stitching, Scuderia Ferrari shields, carbon fiber air vents, carbon fiber racing seats, a suspension lift, and parking camera.
The 488 Pista Spider is the spiritual successor to the 458 Speciale Aperta which itself was the successor to the 16M Scuderia Spider. However, whereas production of the 458 Speciale Aperta and 16M were capped at 499 examples each, Ferrari did not cap production of the 488 Pista Spider to a particular figure. Ferrari has never said how many it built but some suggest the number could be over 1,000.
Given how ‘common’ the 488 Pista Spider is compared to its predecessors, it’s reasonable to assume it will not increase in value in the same way. In fact, the Bring a Trailer community went into an uproar a couple of months ago when Ferrari of Central New Jersey pulled an auction of a 488 Pista Coupe because it seemingly failed to attract the figure the dealer was looking for.
A look through the classifieds reveals there are quite a few 488 Pista Coupe and Spider models for sale in the United States for in excess of $600,000 but it is unclear if they are actually selling for that much. Do you think the Pista is worth almost double its original MSRP?
