A man in Florida has been arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle and uttering a false banknote in a crime so brazen that it almost beggars belief.
Local authorities claim that 42-year-old Casey William Kelly purchased a 911 Turbo from a Porsche dealership in Destin by using a fraudulent check written for $139,203.05 on Monday, July 27. Before long, the Porsche was reported stolen to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The following day, Kelley presented a check in the amount of $61,521 to a jeweler in Miramar Beach in a bid to purchase three Rolex watches. Unfortunately for the 42-year-old, the jeweler kept the watches until it was clear that the check would cash. Two days later, the jeweler reported the false banknote to Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton So reports.
Authorities soon tracked down the man and arrested him on July 29th. He revealed to police that he had printed out the cashier’s checks from his home computer. He was soon charged and booked into the Walton County Jail.
Not only is it rather surprising that the man thought he could get away with the crime, but it is also rather astonishing to hear that the Porsche dealership handed over the keys to the 911 Turbo before verifying the check and making sure if it was real or not.
