The 2020 Formula 1 World Championship has been updated with four additional races.

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, this year’s Formula 1 season was postponed and a multitude of races were cancelled. The season kicked off with a double-header in Austria and organizers have since been busy adding more races to the season. With these new four events, the season will now have 17 rounds, down just five from the 22 that were originally planned.

Round 14 has been penciled in for November 13-15 at Turkey’s Intercity Istanbul Park marking the first time since 2011 that a race will be held here. Following the race in Turkey will be a double-header at the Bahrain International Circuit, with rounds 15 and 16 scheduled for November 27-29 and December 4-6.

The 2020 season will then conclude on December 11-13 in Abu Dhabi.

In a statement, Formula 1 said that “a number of races in the revised 2020 season will be open to a limited number of fans, including hospitality”, but has yet to specify which events these will be.

“We are proud to announce that Turkey, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi will be part of our 2020 season,” chairman and chief executive of Formula 1 Chase Carey commented. “This year has presented Formula 1 and the world with an unprecedented challenge and we want to pay tribute to everyone across Formula 1, the FIA, the teams, and our partners who have made this possible.”

In addition to Turkey, other new races added to the calendar include rounds at Italy’s famous Mugello and Imola circuits as well as Portimao in Portugal.
