Sixty years will have passed in March 2021 since the iconic E-Type was introduced to the world in Geneva, and Jaguar will celebrate the anniversary of its most famous sports car by launching a special tribute edition.
Paying homage to the two E-Types shown to guests at the Parc des Eaux Vives, including the ‘9600 HP’ that was driven by public relations manager Bob Berry from Coventry to Switzerland, and the ’77 RW’ driven on the same route by legendary engineer Norman Dewis, they will be offered in six matching pairs.
Customers will not be able to purchase them individually, but as a collection, with one car paying its respects to the ‘9600 HP’ and the other to the ’77 RW’. The coupe will be finished in Flat Out Grey and the roadster in Drop Everything Green, two paint finishes created exclusively for these two cars. They will also feature several commemorative design details created in conjunction with Jaguar’s Design Director, Julian Thomson.

Pricing and specification of the pair, which will be built by Jag’s Classic Works facility in Warwickshire on fully restored existing 1960 E-Types, will be announced in due course. Each car will be powered by the 3.8-liter straight-six engine that allowed the original cars to hit 150 mph (241 km/h) in the media road tests. Given the physical and sentimental value of these models, it is estimated that the duo might cost in excess of £600,000 ($785,000+).
“The Jaguar E-Type is a genuine icon, as sensational today as the moment it was unveiled in 1961. It’s testament to the E-Type’s advanced design and engineering that it can still be enjoyed and admired as passionately almost 60 years on”, said Dan Pink, director of Jaguar Classic. “The E-Type 60 Collection is a lasting tribute for E-Type admirers, honoring the car’s legacy and the achievements of the team that created it – many of whom have descendants working for Jaguar Classic today, expertly restoring, maintaining and future-proofing enjoyment for generations to come.”
Jaguar has already acquired the base cars and is currently taking orders for the E-Type 60 Collection.
