Jeep has started to tease something ‘Grand’ on social media, prompting fans to start speculating about the new model the automaker is talking about.

The SUV specialist has uploaded a photo of the Grand Canyon on Twitter and Instagram accompanied by the dictionary definition of the word ‘grand’, which is “magnificent and striking in appearance, size, or style”. The words ‘coming soon’ are also featured at the bottom of the image.

The big question is obviously which model is Jeep referring to and the truth is there are at least two possibilities if said vehicle is to feature the word ‘Grand’ in its name. The Grand Cherokee is Jeep’s only existing model to fit the description, and given that it’s due for a redesign soon, that would be our first bet.

We say that also because the photo of the Grand Canyon could suggest Jeep is teasing a model that is very good off-road – something the Grand Cherokee has always been. Mind you, the redesigned model is expected to debut for the 2022 model year so it’s a bit early for Jeep to start teasing it.

Now, the second possible model is the upcoming Grand Wagoneer three-row SUV which will be based on the Ram 1500 pickup truck. As Jeep’s biggest model, it certainly fits the definition for ‘grand’. The all-new Grand Wagoneer is expected to debut as a 2022 model too.

Jeep is also working on a new Grand Cherokee based three-row SUV

While these two are the most obvious choices, there’s a third one: Jeep is known to develop a three-row variant of the upcoming Grand Cherokee which will most likely feature a different name. According to some sources, it could get the Grand Commander moniker, although that’s a bit of a stretch given that Jeep already sells the Cherokee-based Commander and Grand Commander in China.

There’s also the possibility that Jeep is toying with fans and the model it teases does not contain the word ‘Grand’ in its name. If that’s the case, it could be referring to the V8-powered Wrangler which certainly has a grand engine and is expected to debut for 2021.
