It is rear- versus all-wheel drive, Britain versus Italy and turbo-eight vs. naturally aspirated V10 in this drag race that put the McLaren 620R and Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder against each other.
We reckon that they should have used the fixed-roof version of the Italian mid-engined supercar instead, rather than the more expensive open-top for better comparison, but hey, it is what it is.

The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) is dealt with in 3.1 seconds in the Huracan Performante Spyder, which will max out at 201 mph (325 km/h). It is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10, making 631 HP (640 PS / 470 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, mated to a seven-speed DCT that directs power to the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system.
The most powerful model in McLaren’s Sports Series range, which Woking would have you believe is the street-legal version of the 570S GT4 racer, the 620R, brings 611 HP (620 PS / 456 kW) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) into play, channeled to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The British coupe, which is limited to 350 units, takes 2.9 seconds to sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h), according to the official spec sheet, and can hit a 200 mph (322 km/h) top speed.
Now that we know what each of the two supercars can do, it is time to witness them in action in a drag race. On paper, there’s not much to separate them, so it will be very interesting to see which of these hardcore supercars comes out on top.
