Small electric vehicle manufacturer Kandi America has just unveiled two models for the U.S. market, the K27 and the K23, which are poised to become the most affordable EVs on sale in the States.
The two cars come from Chinese electric vehicle and parts manufacturer Kandi Technologies Group and are pegged to arrive before the end of the year. They will be first introduced in Texas before becoming more widely available across the country.

Sitting at the base of the range is the Kandi K27. The compact EV uses a 17.69 kWh battery pack that Kandi claims will be good for 100 miles (160 km) of range. No horsepower and torque figures have been released by the company but we do know prices will start at $20,499, a figure that will fall to $12,999 after the federal tax credit.
The design of the K27 is very simple. Overall, the car looks very narrow and quite tall, while sporting round headlights and taillights. Inside, things appear quite sparse and include a large infotainment screen sitting on the dash.
Landing alongside the K27 in the U.S. is the larger Kandi K23. This model features a large 41.4 kWh battery and has a claimed 180 miles (290 km) of range. Prices for the K23 start at $29,999 before the $7,500 federal tax credit, which drops it down to $22,499.
“Electric vehicles have been valued for years for their efficiency, sustainability and innovation,” Kandi America chief executive Johnny Tai said in a statement. “However, owning the ‘it’ car often eluded consumers who desired a great EV alongside all the other comforts of modern living. Kandi changes that and revolutionizes the EV-buying experience for many. At Kandi, we are on a mission to make electric cars accessible for all. With these first two models, we are starting an Auto EVolution that will allow anyone, regardless of their financial status, to afford a reliable, high-tech EV.”
