The 2021 BMW M4 has yet to be presented to the world, but at the BMW M Grand Prix of Styria over the weekend, MotoGP winner Miguel Oliveria won the keys to the new German sports car.
BMW M was the title sponsor of this weekend’s race and displayed a prototype with a motorsport-inspired livery at the event. Oliveria was considered an outside chance at claiming victory during the race. Coming into the final corner, he was in third place, but with the first two riders, Pol Espargaro and Jack Miller, fighting for position, Oliveria was able to ride up the inside and claim victory in a thrilling finish.
“Congratulations to Miguel Oliveira,” BMW M chief executive Markus Flasch said in a statement. “A fantastic performance saw him outpace the fierce competition in the MotoGP race at the BMW M Grand Prix of Styria. As a long-standing partner of Dorna and title sponsor of the event, we are delighted to honour Miguel with the new BMW M4 as a reward for his victory. But he will have to wait a little while to drive his BMW M4 – the car is so new that it isn’t actually on the market yet. However, we’re confident that he will have a lot of fun with it – as the first test drive shortly after the race has already proved.”

“Wow, it’s amazing. I’m over the moon to be the first MotoGP rider to receive such a special prize,” Oliveira added. “I’ve got to know the new BMW M4 here at the Red Bull Ring and can’t wait to have my one of my own. I’d like to thank BMW M for this fantastic prize.”
BMW recently confirmed that the new M3 and M4 will debut in September. Both will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six as the X3 M and X4 M, with customers offered two performance levels to choose from.
In base specification, the engine will produce 473 hp and come standard with a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The new M3 and M4 will also be sold in Competition form, where they will deliver 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque and be offered with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and rear-wheel drive, while xDrive all-wheel drive will become an option later in the vehicles’ production runs.
