Rimac Automobili has just gain a new, high profile client in Nico Rosberg, as the 2016 Formula 1 champion is officially the owner of a C_Two and has already chosen the bespoke configuration of his new ride.
The 35-year old, who will take delivery in 2021, shared the news with his almost 800k YouTube fans in a video shot at the Paul Ricard track, where he drove an advanced prototype, and will be one of just 150 people worldwide who will have the opportunity to own a C_Two.
“For us, it’s an honor that Nico chose to become a part of the Rimac Automobili family”, said founder and CEO Mate Rimac. “To have one of the world’s best drivers give us the ultimate seal of approval on that design and engineering by buying one is an amazing feeling.”

With a dizzying 1.85 seconds required to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill, the C_Two, which starts at well over $2 million, is 0.75 seconds quicker than his old Formula 1 car, Rosberg said. Moreover, Rimac’s hypercar, which packs four electric motors that deliver a combined output of 1,887 HP (1,914 PS / 1,408 kW) and 1,696 lb-ft (2,300 Nm) of torque, hits a top speed of 256 mph (412 km/h).
Despite the delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the development of the C_Two continues. During this time, Rimac has hired the former Aston Martin Chief Engineer, Tesla Vice President of Vehicle Engineering and head honcho of Apple’s Special Projects Group, Chris Porritt. Porsche has also increased its stake to 15.5% and the Hyundai Motor Group has invested €80 million ($95 million) into the company.
