The days of the Nissan Titan are numbered in Canada, as it is about to be retired from the US’ neighboring country.
For now though, it can still be found on the official website, in the regular and XD versions, for the 2019 and 2020 model years. Brought forward by AutoNews, the decision is blamed on the poor sales, as only 2,807 units were delivered last year, an almost 50% drop compared to 2018.
In the first six months of 2020, it accounted for a 0.5% market share in the segment, with 800 units sold.
The news outlet confirmed the action with a spokesperson earlier this week, who explained that “based on our market objectives for Canada specifically, we have decided to focus our resources on current and future core models in our crossover and sedan portfolio.”
Nissan Titan In The U.S.
Despite being on the chopping block north of the U.S. border, the Nissan Titan isn’t going anywhere from our market, the representative confirmed, as “it is an important part of Nissan’s U.S. product lineup”.
In the first six months of the year, the truck had a 1.2% market share in the class, with 12,196 units sold, down 32%. 31,514 Titans were delivered last year, according to CarSalesBase, and 50,459 in 2018.
Pricing for the facelifted iteration starts at $36,190, excluding the $1,595 handling and destination charge. The 2020 Titan sports visual improvements, an upgraded cockpit with an 8-inch infotainment system and new instrument cluster, and standard Safety Shield 360 suite of safety systems.
Power comes from an upgraded 5.6-liter V8 that makes 400 HP and 413 lb-ft (559 Nm) of torque, a 10 HP and 19 lb-ft (26 Nm) improvement, paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 5.0 V8 turbodiesel has been discontinued.
