Experienced racer Jeff Zwart has had the opportunity to test out the Porsche 935 he will race at the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, taking to the 14,000 ft mountain during a recent round of testing.
Zwart will compete in the Time Attack class at the famous hillclimb event where he will face off against some stiff competition, including two Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport models driven by David Donohue and David Donner. The 935 being driven by Zwart is owned by collector Bob Ingram and is wearing a special white and red livery.

While Zwart has not raced at Pikes Peak for five years, he is a veteran at the event. In fact, he has competed no less than 17 different times in 12 different Porsche 911s and he set a production car record in a street-legal 911 GT2 RS press car back in 2011.
“I come from the old school – no ABS, no traction control, none of the modern technologies that race cars depend on today – so for me the biggest challenge is using those things to my advantage at the highest level, rather than just relying on them for a little more traction or stopping power,” Zwart said in a statement after testing the 935 at Pikes Peak. “I’ve got to really maximize the tech and that’s a fairly steep learning curve for me.”
“It’s the most comfortable race car I’ve ever driven,” he added. It’s already so neutral and my engineer has found fantastic balance in the set-up. The combination of the turbo, the bodywork and the Motorsport chassis is wonderful. It’s just a case of discovering the limits for me now. Getting beyond exploratory speeds to competitive speeds, which are two very different things!”
