The first Porsche 911 ever to reach Australia was delivered by the Australian Porsche distributor at the time, Norman Hamilton, to Adelaide farmer Ron Angas in 1964.
Even back then, long before the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program was founded, the new owner carefully considered the car’s specification. He went for a Stone Grey paintwork and colored Porsche crests on its chromed hub caps, not to mention several modifications made after delivery.
Those included a modified silencer that gave the car four additional horsepower for a total of 134 HP from the air-cooled six-cylinder boxer as well as sealed beam headlights to illuminate the backroads of Angaston.

Fast forward to 2020 and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is paying homage to Australia’s first 911 with a pair of matching 911 Carrera S models.
Created jointly by Porsche Centre Melbourne and Porsche Centre Sydney South, the two special editions mirror the specification of the original car. Both sport a Crayon exterior paint, matching paintwork on the rear engine cover slats, and 20/21-inch Carrera Exclusive Design wheels with contrasting black calipers.
The exterior treatment is rounded out by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur SportDesign side skirts, painted side mirrors and high-gloss trim strips.
Inside, the reimagined 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S sports cars replicate the 1965 model’s green leather by adopting Agave Green Club leather with contrasting Crayon stitching and matching Agave Green seat belts. The Porsche crest is embossed on the headrests, while the brushed aluminum door sill guards in dark silver are illuminated and personalized with ‘1965 Reimagined‘ text.
Both 992 cars also feature an interior package in environmentally-responsible Paldao Dark. Obviously, the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur 911 Carrera S models come with all the modern bells and whistles that one could hardly imagine possible in 1965.
“It’s incredible that 55 years after the original 911 was delivered to Mr Angas, we can replicate some of the same features in the modern equivalent. It shows just how timeless the 911 is,” says Lee Hallett, General Sales Manager, Porsche Centre Sydney South.
