In July 2016, Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing unveiled the AM-RB 001 hypercar. That concept has since morphed into the Aston Martin Valkyrie and while Aston Martin and Red Bull no longer race together in Formula 1 (and will soon compete against each other), development of the hypercar continues.
The British car manufacturer intends on commencing the first customer deliveries before the end of this year. However, according to a new report, Aston Martin is experiencing issues with the Valkyrie prototypes it is currently testing.
Italian publication Formula Passion claims that Aston Martin is working through reliability issues with the car. It is also claimed that the Valkyrie is quite hard to drive and that there are noise-related problems. This has prompted the publication to claim Aston could launch a special series of Valkyrie models to increase the average price of those it sells in a bid to recoup as much of its costs as possible. Alternatively, it is claimed the company could scrap the car entirely.

CarScoops has reached out to Aston Martin to see if there is any truth to these rumors. Until we hear back, we suggesting taking these claims from Formula Passion with a grain of salt.
There’s no doubt that the British automaker is not in the financial position that it was when the Valkyrie program was first announced. Not only is the company now under new ownership, but it has a new chief executive, and it was ex-boss Andy Palmer that was the driving force behind the Valkyrie.
There’s also little doubt that the struggling brand has poured a huge amount of money and resources into the project and pulling the pin now without delivering a single customer car would really hurt the company.
