With only 140 examples ever made, the Aston Martin DB6 Volante is a true automotive unicorn and, at the same time, one of the most desirable post-war cars made by the British company.

Production began back in 1966, and two years later, this example left the assembly line, with a Platinum White exterior on top of the Dark Blue leather interior. Some of the options included power assisted steering, chrome wire wheels with three-ear hubcaps, two lap safety belts and a Borg Warner automatic transmission.

Nonetheless, the latter was eventually swapped for a five-speed manual gearbox by ZF as part of a comprehensive makeover carried out by the latest owner, who ended up spending in excess of £100,000 ($130,000+) over the last few years. The work also included new wheels wrapped in Pirelli P4000 tires, silencers and special attention paid to the fuel tank, hood, clutch, suspension, brakes and chrome work. The bodywork was also resprayed in Dark Blue and the interior welcomed a few enhancements too, hence the new looks.

Now, as we mentioned in the title, the classic Aston is for sale, and BellSport&Classic has it listed on its website. The vendor states that the car is accompanied by an extensive history file that contains documents referencing all previous owners, in addition to the old MoT certificates and a copy of the original build sheet. The selling price will be disclosed upon contacting the vendor, but this is probably the textbook definition of ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’.
