If you want to buy a new Bugatti, you’ll generally have to part ways with at least $3 million. However, if you have €30,000 ($35,400 at today’s exchange rates) for the base model or €43,500 ($51,300) for the Vitesse and €58,500 ($69,000) for the collectable Pur Sang , there is actually a new Bugatti that fits your budget.
Dubbed the Bugatti Baby II, it was unveiled last year and only recently went into production. It has been jointly developed by the UK’s The Little Car Company and takes inspiration from the iconic Type 35 which itself spawned the original Bugatti Baby.
The original Baby was built by Ettore Bugatti to celebrate the fourth birthday of his youngest son. It quickly proved popular and went into production between 1927 and 1936. The new Bugatti Baby II is a 75% scale model of the Type 35, and DriveTribe recently had the opportunity to test it.

There are three variants on offer. The entry-level model that starts at €30,000 has a composite body and uses a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery with a rear electric motor. When driven in ‘Novice’ mode, power is capped to 1.34 hp, resulting in a top speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), while an ‘Expert’ driving mode is also available that increases power to 5.36 hp and results in a 30 mph (45 km/h) top speed.
For those with more money to spend, the carbon fiber Vitesse is available from €43,000 ($51,030) and has a 2.8 kWh battery as well as a Chiron-inspired Speed Key that unlocks 13.41 hp and a 42 mph (70 km/h) top speed. Topping out the range is the aluminum-clad Baby II Pur Sang that starts at €58,500 ($69,425) and has the same powertrain as the Vitesse.
