After last week’s announcement that the facelifted Panamera Turbo is the fastest executive car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Porsche has dropped the full video that shows it going flat out on the German track.
Test and development driver Lars Kern put a barely camouflaged production car through its paces on the complete circuit, with a distance of 20.832 km (12.944 miles), shaving nearly 13 seconds off the time posted in the 2016 run by the same skilled driver.

At the end of the 20.8 km run, the clocked stopped at 7:29.81, which helped the 2021 Panamera Turbo set a new record for executive cars, according to the automaker. We suspect they chose the term ‘executive’ because technically, the Panamera is a liftback. Either way, it’s faster than the stunning Mercedes-AMG GT 63, which is also a five-door liftback, that has posted a 7:30.109 time for the same 20.8 km lap and 7:25.41 for the 200m shorter lap (20.6 km) in 2018.
Porsche’s record-breaking lap, which was set on July 24, was acknowledged by a public notary, and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, developed especially for this model, which equipped the car driven by Kern on that day, will be available as an option.
Meanwhile, the German car firm continues to keep the juicy details surrounding the revamped Panamera Turbo close to its chest. Thus, it is unknown how much the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 pumps out, but the outgoing iteration enjoys 542 HP (550 PS / 404 kW) and 567 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque.
The facelifted Panamera will be officially unveiled at the end of the month.
Correction: We’ve clarified in the article that the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 63 S 4MATIC+’s notarized lap time of the Nürburgring Nordschleife was for the slightly shorter 20.6 km track length, not the full 20.832 km (12.944 mi) version, which it completed in 7:30.109, making it a hair slower than the new Panamera.
