The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is an absolute beast, and the Long Beach Red example in the video has just set a new top speed record for the car.
According to Chevrolet, the C7 Corvette ZR1 tops out at 212 mph (341 km/h) and it can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 2.85 seconds.
Eager to see if Chevrolet’s top speed claim is accurate, the owner of this ZR1 headed to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida for a high-speed run. Sprinting down the bumpy 2.7-mile (4.3 km) runway, the car reached a top speed of 213.649 mph (343.834 km/h), and what makes that figure all the more impressive is the fact that it was GPS-verified.

The key behind the ZR1’s phenomenal pace is its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that churns out 755 hp at 6,300 rpm and 715 lb-ft (969 Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm. It’s worth pointing out that the ZR1 in this video isn’t rocking the massive rear wing you’ll see on most ZR1s but a slightly smaller one that produces less drag and, in all likelihood, helped the ‘Vette exceed its official top speed.
While the C7 ZR1 remains the most powerful produced to date, it won’t hold on to that crown for very long. In fact, it is alleged that the C8-generation Corvette ZR1 will feature a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 that will work alongside an electric motor to produce 1,000 hp, although this model isn’t expected to land until the 2025 model year.
