A rare 1973 Ford Landau Coupe was recently sold in Australia and is, to this day, one of the most intriguing models released in the local market.

Ford built the Landau Coupe between 1973 and 1976 and based it on the XA Falcon GT Hardtop of the day. The vehicle retained the same running gear as the Falcon GT, including the standard 351-2V Cleveland V7 engine and automatic transmission. The car also left the factory with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, dual-remote mirrors, and a power aerial.

This particular Landau Coupe that was sold by Australian Muscle Car Sales is one of just 1,385 examples produced and one of the first to come off the production line in 1973. It is painted Stratosphere Grey and was sold with its log books, original keys, and an extensive digital photo file documenting a paint restoration it underwent in 2016.

The seller states that the car runs and operates near-perfectly, although does mention that the clock has stopped working, “perhaps encouraging you to step back into a less hurried time,” the listing reads.

Making the Falcon-based car all the more appealing is that, despite showing 67,475 km (41,927 miles) on the clock, the cabin is free of any significant signs of wear and tear.

The car was listed up for sale for AU$95,000 (~US$67,800) and it presumably sold for somewhere near that mark.
