Traditionally, the Los Angeles International Auto Show takes place in late November every year, and that was the plan for 2020 as well.
However, since nothing has happened according to plan this year because of the COVID-19 outbreak, the LA Auto Show had to admit defeat too and reschedule. Instead of running November 20-29, 2020, the event will be postponed by six months and will take place May 21-31, 2021.
While organizers haven’t made an official announcement yet, AutoNews has got the intel from three people familiar with the show’s planning. The show’s president, Terri Toennies, did not comment on the report, but two of the unnamed sources said an announcement could come as early as this week.

The rescheduled LA Auto Show would fall between April’s New York Auto Show and June’s Detroit Auto Show, setting up a calendar packed with major U.S. auto events next spring. Having three important auto shows so close in the calendar will likely force automakers to make tough decisions regarding where they will bring their significant unveilings.
Unless further postponements or cancellations come into play, the three shows will stretch over three months instead of seven. The NY show is set for April 2-11, while Detroit is planned for June 19-26. Both venues were canceled this year because of the pandemic.
At the time of writing, the website for the privately-owned LA Auto Show was still advertising the original November dates. The event was supposed to host “dozens more” debuts than the 70 vehicles introduced at the 2019 edition.
