Ford unveiled the all-new 2021 F-150 in June, but the automaker has waited until now to release the much-anticipated towing and payload ratings, as well as the power and torque levels.
Delving right into the subject, the 2021 Ford F-150 offers a maximum towing rating of 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) with the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost and Max Trailer Tow Package in SuperCab 8-foot box and SuperCrew 4×2 configurations. Moving on, we also get to learn the specifications of the entire engine range, which gets a 3.5-liter PowerBoost full hybrid powertrain for the first time. The electrified power plant is currently the most powerful in the 2021 F-150 lineup, delivering a combined 430 HP and 570 lb-ft (772 Nm) of torque. The F-150 hybrid is rated at a maximum of 12,700 lbs (5,760 kg) of conventional towing, which Ford claims is the most ever offered by any full hybrid pickup.
The maximum payload of F-150 PowerBoost-equipped trucks is 2,120 lbs (961 kg) for the Crew Cab 4×2 model with 6.5-foot box. The 2021 F-150 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid comes standard with Pro Power Onboard, which brings 2.4 kilowatts of standard power and an available 7.2 kilowatts – enough to power 28 average refrigerators.
If you’re not convinced by the hybrid, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engines get more power and torque for 2021. Compared to the 2020 model, the V8 makes 400 HP and 410 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque (up 5 HP and 10 lb-ft), while the V6 is now rated at 400 HP and 500 lb-ft (677 Nm) of torque (up 25 HP and 30 lb-ft).
The standard engine is a 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6 making 290 HP and 265 lb-ft (359 Nm) of torque, with customers also having the option of a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 delivering 325 HP and 400 lb-ft (541 Nm). Finally, the 2021 Ford F-150 continues to offer the 3.0-liter PowerStroke V6 diesel that’s rated at 250 HP and 440 lb-ft (596 Nm) of torque. All engines come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
