Our spies caught the facelifted BMW X7 once again, this time resting up on a trailer, with the test car still camouflaged on both the front and rear ends.
While information on the subject remains scarce, BMW is apparently going to refresh the appearance of its entire SUV lineup, from the X1 all the way up to X7, and a major part of that LCI update will be a new front fascia.
However, don’t get your hopes as that massive front grille isn’t going anywhere; if anything it’s going to be even more pronounced if the masking at the front of this test car is accurate. The biggest change will be a pair of new headlights, with the test car here wearing provisional units and a new bonnet that looks more integrated with the big grille.

The rear will also get a redesign, albeit the changes appear to be much more subtle, at least on this particular test car. BMW might give its flagship SUV model a completely new set of taillights but so far we are not convinced that’s the case.
The next 7-Series shows the way for the X7
2022 is also going to be the year BMW is going to reveal an all-new 7-Series, which will be available in petrol, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric guises. The drastic redesign of the X7’s front end indicates that the German carmaker wants to keep its flagship sedan and SUV models closely related in terms of design, but at this point, we are only speculating.
It’s safe to assume that the facelift will introduce at least one plug-in hybrid powertrain in the X7 range, with the current model recently receiving a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The V8-powered M50i is expected to continue serving as the range-topper while Alpina will most definitely offer its own take, for those wishing a bit more out of their three-row BMW luxury SUV model.
