The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson looks dramatically different than its predecessor and, regardless of whether you’re a fan of the new design or not, it’s impossible to deny that it is a head-turner. When viewed in the flesh, it appears even more striking.
Hyundai’s current Sensuous Sportiness design language was brought into production with the new Sonata and the Tucson takes it even further. The front end is particularly striking thanks to its use of a large grille with Parametric Hidden Lights. When the car is switched off, the LED daytime running lights are hidden and simply look like part of the grille. Switch on the new Tucson and the hidden lights become visible.
The automaker’s designers have continued the radical new exterior look down the sides with sharp and angular surfaces. Rounding out the new exterior is an all-new rear fascia with split taillights and a hidden wiper under the roof-mounted spoiler.

This video from Asian Petrolhead also takes a detailed look at the interior of the new Tucson which, like the exterior, is dramatically different than the cabin of the third-gen model. The most obvious difference is a vertically-oriented center console that incorporates a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There is also a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster that changes its graphics depending on the driving mode.
In the United States, customers will be able to purchase the new Tucson with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 187 hp and 182 lb-ft (247 Nm) of torque that’s mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms with up to 227 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) will also be offered.
